LAMA WINS THE OUELAD SAID PROJECT FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF MOROCCO

Three years ago, the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, through its Ministry of Agriculture, launched the call for tenders for a hydraulic project in the southwest of the country as part of the Maroc Vert National Programme. This programme consists of a hydro-agricultural management plan, the application of technology to irrigation and the implementation of sustainable agriculture in the agricultural area of Marrakech, specifically in the province of Ouelad Said. The works for the complete study cover the supply, transportation and installation of filtration equipment materials, involving other engineering works.

The goal is to supply water to a net surface area of 2,980 hectares using an automatic screen filtration head, with a total flow of 16,740 m3/h, with the water drawn from a reservoir.

Lama launched its proposal with the help of one of its clients and was awarded the contract. This makes a total of 35 successful proposals for filter heads in Morocco. Our engineering team designed a filtration solution consisting of a head made up of 32 Automesh Lama automatic electric screen filters. The installation of this enormous piece of equipment will help 2,700 farmers benefit 100% from the reduction in water consumption.
This project has been launched just recently and is helping to preserve the region’s water resources and increase the yield of its land. The main crops to be developed are melons, olives and oranges.

The technical specifications of the equipment are as follows:

  • Minimum net filtration area of 225,520 cm2.
  • Pressure rating of PN10.

The rest of the components of the filtration head, such as the manifolds, must withstand a nominal pressure of PN10, with a diameter of 1,600 mm.

  • 50/100 ppm of raw water.
  • 125-micron filter cartridges.
  • Technical training for decision makers as well as testing of the filtration equipment in the Lama factory laboratory prior to commissioning.
  • Miscellaneous technical documentation, such as drawings and certifications of the products to be installed.

The Automesh Lama can filter 540 m3/h, which means that 32 provide a total flow of 17,280 m3/h. Our automatic electric screen filter has a carbon steel body with a nanotechnology treatment. The filter cartridge is made of polyamide, and the screen is made of AISI 316 stainless steel and is injected directly into the cartridge from the injection.

It is also the only filter on the market that does not use the axial movement characteristic of other systems in the cleaning stage. Click on the following video for more information on the performance of Automesh Lama.
